Thank you for using this beta feature. Please submit any issues or concerns via support ticket at http://amigopos.com/Support/SupportTicket.aspx |
The remote display application is included free with Amigo Pos 7 and is intended to replace the prep printer. Each prep printer can be replaced, or work in conjunction with, a single remote display monitor, for up to 10 monitors on a single system. Each monitor requires a separate PC.
This application is in beta and will require frequent updates until the final release is made available. The remote display application works with the default MS Jet database or SQL Server. SQL Server is recommended to minimize the risk for database corruption due to abrupt network outage.
System Requirements
| • | Supported Operating Systems: Any version of MS Windows that supports .Net 4.0, including XP, Vista and 7. The remote display application has not been tested on embedded operating systems |
| • | Processor: 400 MHz Pentium processor or equivalent (Minimum); 1GHz Pentium processor or equivalent (Recommended). The remote display application will run on inexpensive atom mini computers and older Celeron processors. |
| • | RAM: 128 MB (Minimum); 256 MB (Recommended). The minimum memory requirements are determined by the operating system. |
| • | Hard Disk: Up to 50 MB of available space may be required |
| • | Display: 800 x 600, 256 colors (Minimum); 1024 x 768 or better high color, 32-bit (Recommended) |
Screen Resolution
The remote display application will automatically resize to fill the entire viewable area of the screen at program startup. Although it is capable of running at resolutions as low as 800x600px, 1024x768px or higher is recommended.
Installation
Download the Remote Display application from the drivers and utilities download page at http://www.amigopos.com. Confirm that the current Windows user is logged in as administrator before attempting installation. Install Amigo Pos on each remote display PC. A license is not required. Follow the procedure to set the MS Jet database path or SQL Server connection string to connect to the database. The remote display application will use the same database settings as Amigo Pos. Amigo Pos does not have to be running when the remote display application is in use. If a database connection error occurs, a dialog appears and the connection will be automatically every 10 seconds. If a database connection error occurs, verify that the network is up and that the pc hosting the database is online.

Database Connection Error
All configuration settings except the database path and remote display id are shared by every remote display on the system. The display settings can be adjusted by clicking the Settings icon in the remote display application or in back office.

Remote Display Settings
Each remote display pc must be assigned a unique display id, which corresponds to the Prep1, Prep2, etc fields in Amigo Pos Back Office menu configuration screens, i.e. to send a hamburger to remote display 1, check the box under the Prep 1 column.

Send Regular Menu Items to Remote Display 1
Usage
Each remote display function is assigned a shortcut keys (or keystroke combination), but the display can also be used without a keyboard if a touchscreen monitor is used. Refer to the bump bar help topic for shortcut key assignments.
