Amigo Point Of Sale includes support for an unlimited number of menu item optional groups and unlimited optionals per group. In addition, each group can be defined by 5 price levels in addition to the normal price. Each price level may be used to adjust the price up, down or no change. For example, Extra Cheese may add to the price of a menu item, while No Salad may decrease the price of the menu item. Other optional levels, such as Light Mustard, may not change the price of the item.

Optional Groups |
Optional groups may be either Mandatory, Exclusive, both Mandatory & Exclusive or neither Mandatory or Exclusive.
| • | Mandatory: At least on item must be selected from this group |
| • | Exclusive: Only one item can be selected from this group |
| • | Mandatory & Exclusive: A maximum of one item must be selected from this group |
| • | Default (neither Mandatory or Exclusive): Multiple or no items can be selected from this group |
Exclusive optional groups are defined by checking the box next to the Exclusive field on the Optional Groups list. Only one item from this group may be selected for a single menu item, regardless of the number of optional items added to this group. An exclusive optional group is indicated by the red and gray icon on the order entry screen, as shown below. One example of an exclusive optional group is egg preparation option which may be either scrambled, fried or basted. The server should not be able to select more than one optional from the group.

Mandatory optional groups are defined at the menu item level. For example, the server may be required to specify whether the steak should be rare, medium or well, but may not be required to specify whether a hamburger should be prepared rare, medium or well. In the case, the optional group will be set to Mandatory & Exclusive for the steak but Exclusive for the hamburger. To define a optional group as mandatory for a specific menu item, check the box under the Mandatory column on the menu item editor.

Defining a mandatory optional group |
Click the Optionals tab and select a group on the left hand side to view a list of optionals. Double-click on any group to edit the group settings or to assign optional levels.
To add optional items to an existing optional group, click the Optional Items tab, select the optional group and click the green Add New button above the optionals list. Enter the new item name at the prompt and click OK to save the item. After the item is saved to the database, enter any additional information such as prep text and price.

Optional Items |
Optional item buttons are similar to menu item buttons with a wide range of customizable features including button color, button theme and button image. If the optional group has associated price levels, enter the price level for each optional item in the group. Price levels that have a negative price (decrease the price of the menu item) will appear enclosed in parentheses. When entering a negative price, use the negative sign on the keyboard, i.e. -.50.

Optionals |
An unlimited number of optional items may be assigned to each optional group. If more than 5 items are added to a single group, an arrow button will appear on the order entry screen that allows the server to view all optional items in the group.
